Our week long trip in early August this year started with a few days on Assateague Island in Maryland. From there we travelled over the Bay Bridge, around Washington DC on the beltway, and to our next stop. Fredericksburg, VA.
For more information visit their web site. The campground is located at 7400 Brookside Lane

After a few days of camping on the beach in the sun, Fredericksburg’s KOA was a welcome change. From Assateague State Park, we travelled to Fredericksburg VA to tour some of the Civil War battlefields in the area. As much fun as the beach can be, I live in the northeastern US in an area that has a lot of forest. That’s where I normally camp. Arriving at this campground set back in the trees was almost like coming home.
This KOA is relatively small. It’s in a wooded setting, and it’s really well taken care of. It has a pool, a store with a little bit of everything in it, clean bathrooms and showers, and it’s in a great location. For some leisure activity, there is a small pond where they allow catch and release fishing. There are also cabins if you don’t have a tent or an RV.
